The Norwegian salmon island
The tour starts with an exhibition about fish farming at the terminal at Sandstad. The exhibition is a part of the Coastal Museum and provides an insight into the modern Norwegian aquaculture, and puts it in a local, national and international perspective. Then you go by rib-boat out on the sea to one of the island’s many fish farms. Together, this gives a unique learning experience.
On the way back to the terminal there will be a stop at the Terningen lighthouse, established in 1833. The lighthouse consists of a twelve-meter-high concrete tower and is located in beautiful surroundings. If you are lucky maybe a big ship or a cruise will pass by as you enjoy a delicious salmon lunch, before returning to the terminal at Sandstad.
